We received the news of the outbreak of war in the Holy Land with great sadness. On behalf of the entire academic community of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, we extend our sympathy and solidarity to all those affected by the consequences of the hostilities," stressed the Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin, Fr. Prof. Mirosław Kalinowski, and the A. J. Heschel Center for Catholic-Jewish Relations of the Catholic University of Lublin in an issued statement.
The text cites the words of Pope Francis, who pointed out this past Sunday during the Angelus prayer that terrorism and war lead to no solution but only to death, to the suffering of so many innocent people.
"War is a failure; every war is a failure. Let us pray for peace in Israel and Palestine," The Holy Father said.
We join this call and ask for the intercession of our great Patron St. John Paul II, for whom the Holy Land and the peaceful coexistence of all peoples were fundamental issues," the statement reads.
