Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin: Polonia is strategic

Polonia has always been very important and strategic. It was the Poles abroad who supported us during the communist era and the social and political changes. The Society of Friends of the Catholic University of Lublin was established in many countries. - Today we are returning the favor for this help. More than two years ago, I established the Polish Diaspora Center of the Catholic University of Lublin. It already has almost 2,000 graduates,” said Rev. Prof. Miroslaw Kalinowski.

Rev. Prof. Kalinowski reminded that the 2nd May is the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad Day, which was established by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland on the initiative of the Polish Senate in 2002. About 20 million compatriots live outside Poland.

The Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin stressed that Poles in the country, including the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), received support from the Polish community during difficult moments in history, including the communist era. The University expresses its gratitude for the help provided in various ways. One of the most eloquent forms of this assistance is the Polish Diaspora Center, established in 2023. Among the various educational and cultural activities of this Center is the KUL Study Centre for the Polish Community and Poles Abroad. “Currently, the third edition of classes is underway. In total, more than 2,000 people from all over the world have already participated in certified courses and trainings. Courses are held online and some stationary in selected cities. We have opened our offices in Paris, London. We are planning to open new offices in Brussels, Rome, Madrid, Vienna, USA, Brazil and Argentina,” said the Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin.

The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin actively cooperates with the Polish Catholic Mission in France. In January 2023, the Office of the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) Study for Polonia and Poles from France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg was established at the Polish Seminary in Issy-les-Moulineaux. Full-time courses are held there.

In the three editions so far, the Polish Center has organized 30 courses of  the study, with participants from more than 30 countries around the world. Information about the upcoming fourth edition can be found at polonia.kul.pl and on social media.
