A delegation from the Gordon College of Education in Haifa, Israel, visited the Catholic University of Lublin, with Dr. Merav Hemi and Dr. Ronen Kasperski, giving lectures on education and special education, but also learning about the activities and projects of the Heschel Center at the Catholic University of Lublin.
Our university is a place frequently visited by scholars from abroad. The visits are planned in a way that showcases the diversity of the Catholic University of Lublin, but also of Lublin in international and interreligious aspects. In the case of visitors from Israel, their interest was picked by the Abraham J. Heschel Center for Catholic-Jewish Relations, which strives to foster dialogue between Catholics and Jews, organizes youth exchanges and implements educational and intercultural projects.
"The guests we host get to know not only the university, but also Lublin as a multicultural city, where Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, the largest Talmudic university in the world, existed," noted the rector of the Catholic University of Lublin, Rev. Prof. Miroslaw Kalinowski.
Visitors from Haifa University visited the headquarters of the Heschel Center at the Catholic University of Lublin, where they viewed a portion of the exhibition "The Operation that Killed the City. The story of Lublin and its Jewish community in the shadow of the Holocaust based on photographs and documents from the collection of Norbert Podlesny. An exhibition in memory of the victims of Operation Reinhardt", as well as a film accompanying the exhibition.
The Gordon Academic College of Education (GACE) in Haifa is one of the leading higher education institutions in Israel, specializing in teacher education and in-service teacher professional development. The college offers undergraduate and graduate programs in education, as well as a variety of in-service and preparatory courses. GACE is accredited by the Israeli Council for Higher Education and has a tradition of more than 70 years in teacher education.
