On August 5, Lubliner Festival – Festival of Jewish Culture begins. For six days, residents of Lublin and visitors from other cities will be able to take part in concerts, meetings, and workshops devoted to Jewish culture. The aim of the festival is to bring closer the history and life of the Jewish community, which for centuries has been an integral part of Lublin. All events are free of charge.
A celebration of culture, history, and remembrance
This year's program will include concerts featuring international artists, guided walks through the former Jewish quarter, and a tour of the Yeshiva Chachmei complex. Participants will also visit the Jewish cemetery and the State Museum at Majdanek. On the last day of the Festival, August 10, a Memorial Ceremony will be held at the Mausoleum Monument at the State Museum at Majdanek to mark the 81st anniversary of the camp's liquidation. The Festival will conclude with a concert entitled “From Shtetls to Broadway: Jewish Jazz Sounds.”
As it says on the website of the Lublin Culture Center, the co-organizer of the event: Over the past five years, the Festival has become synonymous with preserving memory, restoring the richness of Jewish culture, and creating a space that connects generations. Lubliner Festival is a unique journey through Jewish culture, music, cuisine, history, and spirituality. This year, we will once again take part in many events that celebrate the diversity and depth of this fascinating tradition.
